Action Type: Single and Double Action Swing-Out Cylinder Revolver
Markings: The left side of the barrel is faintly marked CHESHIRE & PERE” with an illegible logo. The yoke cut is marked “1K727 / MOD. 15-3” and the yoke is marked “50975”, probably a “9” and hand inscribed “727”. The back of the extractor star and the rear face of the cylinder are both marked “727”. The left side of the grip frame is marked “2”, ‘71’, “50975”, “9” and “8”. The underside of the grip frame is marked “1K727”. The right side of the grip frame is marked “TPD”, has an “A” in a triangle, an “I” in a circle and what might be an incomplete “E” or “F”. There is a large S&W logo on the right sideplate and the four line “Marcas Registradas” address on the right side of the frame.
Barrel Length: The heavy slab sided barrel with full underlug and rib is 5 7/8” in length.
Sights / Optics: The sights are made by Aristocrat Gunsight Company of San Gabriel, California. There is a Patridge style front sight protected by wings on each side. This sight is secured to the massive rib and can apparently be exchanged for ones of different heights. The rib has a series of curved cuts forming a matte, glare-free sighting plane. The square notch rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation in the normal fashion. In addition the rear sight has three separate repeatable height adjustments for shooting at different distances.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are Goncalo Alves checkered S&W Target Stocks with a left side speed loader cut. The checkering is still sharp. The grip panels exhibit normal handling marks, in addition to which there are three small compression marks on the bottom of the grips and a tiny chip missing at the lower left side. The grips rate in about Very Good to Fine overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Re-Finished
Bore Condition: The bore is beautiful and the rifling is great. There is no erosion in the bore. This is a custom, slab side barrel with 10 narrow grooves, 10 wide lands and a recessed crown.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 92% of its metal finish. There is a very light drag line on the cylinder. The left side of the frame has some pinprick surface erosion visible under the finish and the right side plate has scratches around the screw that retains the yoke. There is a small nick almost centered on the right side of the trigger guard. The screw heads are lightly distressed. The hammer and trigger are case colored. The markings are clear except as discussed. Overall, this handgun rates in about Very Good to Fine condition.
Mechanics: The double action functions smoothly with an about 7 ½ pound pull. The trigger return spring may need replacing, or perhaps just some cleaning and lubrication. The single action breaks cleanly at about 3 pounds. This is a finely tuned Square Butt, K Frame revolver with Aristocrat sights, custom barrel and a tapered custom full length bolt-on underlug. The spring loaded plunger that normally retains the end of the ejector rod has been replaced by a custom spring loaded piston in the underlug that engages the yoke directly. There is a checkered .400” wide semi-target hammer and a smooth .265” wide combat trigger. We did not fire this handgun, but we would like to.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A two piece blue box with the blue metal reinforced corners is provided. The box has no labels or printing on it and is lightly scuffed, particularly on the bottom. The box is in about Fine condition. Also provided is a S&W cleaning rod and S&W screwdriver that are in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This is a custom PPC style revolver based on a S&W Model 15-3. Whoever put this revolver together did a great job. The double action is so smooth and light, we wouldn’t be surprised to find this target gun prefers only Federal primers. We can only imagine that this is also going to be a very accurate revolver with the right loads and in the right hands. We hope the successful bidder on this handgun appreciates what a rare treat it is to own such a beautiful work of the shooting arts.
CA Legal or CA Private Party Transferable: This handgun cannot be transferred as a dealer sale in California, but CAN be sold as a Private Party Transfer (PPT) at our Simi Valley shop. . All cartridge firing handguns (even C&R's and antiques) sold to a California resident must be DROS'd. This does not apply to out of state residents.

If you are in Southern California, you are welcome to pick your item up and complete the transfer at our shop in Simi Valley (M-F, 8-4 and Saturday By Appointment).
This gun can only be shipped to an FFL, and it will be shipped from an FFL. It is your responsibility to ensure that the gun is legal to own and receive in your area. Please include a copy of your dealer’s license with payment. We will need CFLC numbers for CA FFL’s to ship a firearm within California. We are FFL dealers and comply with all Federal, State and Local laws.
We always combine on shipping to save you as much as we can. You can generally assume it will be full shipping charge on the first item, 1/2 on the second, 1/3 on the third, etc. Exceptions only arise when the items are going to different locations (different licenses), or when they are exceptionally large, heavy or valuable and cannot be combined.
